News: FANTASTIC FORDS FASCINATE FANS

Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, they’ve all arrived at once for all you Ford fans out there with some quite stunning vehicles being displayed at the various Ford shows up and down the country at the moment. Indeed, fans of one of the most iconic car brands in the world enjoyed a fantastic spectacle atThe International Ford Show, which took place over the weekend of April 30 to May 1 at Sandown Park, Surrey.

Celebrity guests including Ant Anstead from Channel 4’s For the Love of Cars, Touring Car legend Barrie ‘Whizzo’ Williams and Fifth Gear presenter Tiff Needell drew big crowds, with Ant enjoying the chance to be reunited with the Escort Mexico that he restored for the first series of the popular show, which is due to return in late 2016 or early 2017.

Tiff, meanwhile, got to sit in a Sierra RS500 Cosworth that was almost identical to the one he drove in the 1989 British Touring Car Championship, part of the show’s Ford in Motorsport display. Tiff drew in a huge crowd recounting his tales of past motorsport glories.

A Ford-only Barons Auction on the Saturday, MotorMartin has been told, saw some strong prices – a right-hand drive Mustang first owned by the president of Ford of Europe sold for £30,000, a classic 1965 Mustang Coupe went for £26,000 and an F-150 pick-up first owned by former England football captain David Beckham sold for £11,800.badget prices I’m sure you’ll agree, but then we all know that the blue oval badge is very desirable, especially on the right car.

For those of you lucky enough to have visited the show you’ll know that the two-day show celebrated Ford icons old and new, including a special display to mark 40 years of the Fiesta and a feature celebrating 50 years of the iconic Essex V6 engine, while the very latest Mustang and Focus RS made their UK show debuts.

Event manager Kat Chappell shared with MotorMartin that: “We’re very proud to have added another event to the Ford calendar, and look forward to building on the achievements of The International Ford Show to build an even bigger and better event for next year. It’s clear that the enthusiasm out there for Ford cars means there’s demand for this type of event, which is just one of a series of Ford events we are hosting this year.” You’re not wrong there.

The next event in the series is the Classic Ford Show, which takes place at Santa Pod, Bedfordshire, on Sunday June 5th and will be well worth a visit in MotorMartin’s opinion. So well done to the organisers of the International Ford Show and good luck in topping what was a fantastic show ready for next year.
