Day to day life is certainly varied up here in MotorMartin Towers, activity with the website, speaking with manufacturers and their representatives, completion of driving and filming duties for the expanding YouTube channel, and finding time and interesting destinations to drive to, all of this takes time. With the news items posted its a difficult decision sometimes about what to keep and what to discard. What is it that you lovely readers will find interesting and/or helpful? Are there particular stories, topics and manufacturers to look out for?

A key area that MotorMartin likes to focus on is that of industry awards as these are a good barometer of what is happening in the motoring world at that particular point and is an excellent guide to current trends and direction. And so you would expect different manufacturers to come to the front at various times over the course of the year. Perhaps a new design element, a new piece of technology or just changing fashions, all of which will provide the spark that catches a judges’ or consumers attention. It would be rare then for one manufacturer or product to have a monopoly over certain awards and yet this is exactly the position that ŠKODA and their Superb now find themselves in. A brief search through the archives of MotorMartin and ŠKODA will provide plenty of sales stories and features but there was also an article posted in March of this year highlighting the fact that the Superb had wowed UK Car of the Year judges as their excellent hatchback and estate received the top awards.

And now, the ŠKODA Superb has increased its remarkable tally of industry accolades by adding The Telegraph’s ‘Best Family Car 2016’ title to its collection. The Superb was named as a clear winner in the 2016 Telegraph Car Awards – seeing off some of the stiffest competition in the sector and further evidence of the abilities of this superb (ahem!) car.

As expected, the Awards were judged by The Telegraph’s panel of road test experts with the findings based on a wide variety of factors including road tests, first drives and extended ownership assessments. The Superb was praised for its driving dynamics and high levels of equipment, with the panel highlighting its generous levels of interior space.

Commenting on the award, The Telegraph’s judges shared with MotorMartin that: “You don’t even need to upgrade to the estate model to get huge practicality from ŠKODA’s Superb. Throw in a smooth ride, great safety credentials and low running costs and you’ve got a fantastic family car.”

ŠKODA have informed MotorMartin that this latest title comes in the same week that Auto Express named the Superb Best Family Car and Best Estate car as part of its 2016 New Car Awards. Since its launch last September, the third-generation Superb has won 11 industry awards in the UK – making it one of the most decorated cars in ŠKODA’s history. Incredible.

It’s important to note that the Superb range starts from £19,060 for the hatch version and £20,260 for the estate and that this is arguably one of the best value new cars on the market today. Especially when you consider the size, practicality, good looks and technology that you get when investing real money in the Super. Available with five trim grades, including the all-new SportLine variant – power outputs range from 120PS to 280PS, while transmission options include DSG automatic gearboxes and four-wheel drive there should be a Superb for everyone.

A quick view of the short film below, kindly provided by ŠKODA from their own, excellent YouTube channel, will give you a flavour of what the judges saw in the Superb.
