For consumers today, the range of cars available to buy at the moment is probably the most diverse it’s ever been with a quite extraordinary number of car types and styles providing the public with a bewildering choice on the showroom floor. Of course, there are many different outlets for motoring news and reviews in both print and digital formats and the rise and rise of YouTube as a valid source of information has been swiped upon by magazines and manufacturers alike. Indeed, it has been into this maelstrom that MotorMartin has leapt two footed into. Hopefully the ‘real life’ motoring focus of the site has struck a chord and offered another outlet for reviews and news that is helpful when deciding upon your next car.

And it’s not just traditional reviews or films that help narrow down the motoring choice as awards also have a very important part to play, after all, if you’ve narrowed down your choice to one or two options, MotorMartin would then choose the award winner.

Recently then, the 2016 Telegraph Cars Awards have been recognising those cars that excell in their field, the ŠKODA Superb and Rolls-Royce Dawn being successful in their respective categories for example. And now news has arrived at MotorMartin Towers that the Honda Jazz has picked up the Best Small Hatchback at the 2016 Telegraph Cars Awards. Well done Honda.

Reflecting the best new models on sale today across a broad range of categories, the winners, MotorMartin has been informed, have been selected by the Telegraph’s expert road test team, who over the last 12 months have put hundreds of cars through a rigorous review process including everything from early first drives to a detailed 10-point test and living with the cars on a long-term test basis.

Honda have shared with MotorMartin that with the third generation launched last year, the latest incarnation of the Jazz builds on the strong reputation of its highly successful predecessors. The global car, also known as the ‘Fit’ in some markets, has sold over 5 million units worldwide since the first generation model was introduced in 2001 and it is currently being manufactured in seven countries.

What the judges said: “Many have tried to copy the Jazz’s formula for success, but nothing does it quite so well. For a small car interior space is impressive, and Honda’s reliability record is superb.”

Phil Webb, Head of Cars at Honda UK, commented to MotorMartin that: “Being recognised by one of the foremost motoring teams at one of our national newspapers is a fantastic accolade for both the brand and the Jazz. The Jazz is a very important model for us, with an extremely loyal following, so we look forward to seeing this success continue.”

So an impressive result for Honda and their universally admired Jazz. A well deserved award and a huge pat on the back for the designers, engineers and test drivers of Honda.
