Now this is going to cause some arguments amongst you all as there’s nothing more divisive amongst classic car fans than having to choose one car and brand over another and yet, with the deadline to vote just rapidly approaching, organisers of The Classic & Sports Car Show have revealed the top two entrants per decade in their global poll to find the greatest supercar ever. I must warn you now though, it may well take you quite some time to make your decision.
MotorMartin has been informed that as voting for the top ten closes on August 31st, fans have only a matter of days left to get online and vote for the cars they want to see in the ‘A Century of Supercars’ feature at the show taking place from 28th to 30th October.
And that, Once all the first-round votes are in, the winners from each category will be pitted against each other in a final showdown with voting taking place throughout September. Rather incredibly, all of the finalists will be on show at the Alexandra Palace event, with the winner being revealed in a spectacular multi-million pound display.
Experts from Classic & Sports Car have selected the initial shortlist of three game-changing contenders per decade including the iconic Lamborghini Miura, the monstrous Metallurgique and the record-breaking Bugatti Veyron to name just a few.
But now we have arrived at the business end of the voting as with hundreds of votes already cast, the top two contenders in each decade of the poll are as follows:
Up to 1914
Mercedes 1908 GP
Bugatti Type 43
Bentley 41/2-litre Blower
Bugatti Type 57SC
Alfa Romeo 8C 2900

James Elliott, Classic & Sports Car Group Editor informed MotorMartin that: “The competition is really hotting up between these truly pioneering machines that have thrilled petrolheads for generations. It’s interesting to see which two cars are currently battling it out in each decade and I can’t wait to see the final top ten at the end of the month.” Before adding, “Whichever of these icons are ultimately chosen for the display, the ‘A Century of Supercars’ feature is sure to be a crowd-pleaser for visitors of all ages.”
