As big fans of MG Motor UK, their cars and their philosophies it’s great to see that the consumer is starting to get on board with their products, recognising MGs mix of high specification, excellent road manners and good value present in both the MG3 and MG GS. And now this attitude towards MG is becoming increasingly clear as their most recent sales figures show.
Latest data shows that the new car market is in decline, down -3.9% year to date in 2017, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). However, in an environment of continued downward pressure, MG Motor UK have shared with MotorMartin that they are celebrating steady growth, with a 0.48% increase over the same period. What’s more, the ambitious brand has now smashed through the 10,000-car milestone for its iconic MG3 model.
Known for its bright colour palette, sporty good looks and ultra-low insurance rating (4E), the MG3 is proving incredibly popular with city dwellers, first-time drivers and driving schools. Starting from just £8,695 and benefiting from an additional £1,500 trade-in allowance, the stylish Supermini offers a considerable benefit over its rivals in both purchase and running costs. The MG3 Form Sport is available for just £99 per month, the same as buying a coffee and pastry from a high street chain every morning, while offers are also available across the other variants in the range.
Speaking about the success of the MG3, Matthew Cheyne, Head of Sales and Marketing at MG Motor UK, explained to MotorMartin recently: “Since launching the MG3 in 2013, our versatile Supermini has gone from strength-to-strength. We have a wealth of personalisation options, some compelling finance offers and a programme of continued development to keep the MG3 ahead of the curve. With so much to offer, this car stacks up well against the competition, and we’re thrilled to have surpassed 10,000 sales.”
He continues: “It’s clearly a challenging time for the UK new car market, and it is testament to our strong product offer, committed sales teams and ongoing network.”
investment that MG continues to show positive growth. With the introduction of our brand new Compact-SUV in November and further offers across the rest of the range, we’re looking forward to a strong finish to the year.”
MG Motor UK have confirmed to MotorMartin that the final quarter of 2017 will see an increased emphasis on the MG3’s distinctive personalisation options, with promotional offers on 16” alloy wheels, interior styling packs and coloured wing mirror caps. Availability of the popular Rally Style pack will also be extended to the end of the year, following strong take-up over the past quarter.
