Now we love a Bentley over here at MotorMartin Towers it’s that mix of elegance and brute force that just strikes the right chord after all and it would appear that MotorMartin isn’t the only one. The new Bentley Continental GT has been named ‘GT of the Year’ by BBC TopGear Magazine, in the publication’s annual new car awards issue.
The new Continental GT, Bentley say, was praised for its depth of engineering, with the publication describing it as “simply one of the most complete GT cars on the planet.” Particular praise was given to the car’s composure on road, making it “easier than ever to thread through the tricky bits”.
Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO for Bentley Motors, commented to MotorMartin that: “For almost one hundred years, Bentley has been at the forefront of luxury Grand Touring. Our new, third-generation Continental GT is an example of how each Bentley is designed, engineered and handcrafted to perfection, and this award is testament to the hard work of our talented and devoted workforce in Crewe.”
At the heart of the new Continental GT sits an all-new, enhanced version of Bentley’s renowned 6.0-litre, twin-turbocharged W12 TSI engine, mated, for the first time, to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission, for faster, more efficient gear changes.
A new, technically advanced, adaptive chassis uses Bentley’s intelligent 48-volt Dynamic Ride System to ensure a responsive ride and exceptional handling and refinement in all road conditions. The new system controls ride comfort and lateral roll, cushioning passengers from excessive movement as well as making the car feel effortlessly precise.
