For those that don’t know, the incredible James Hillier, riding for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team, achieved two podium finishes at this years Isle of Man TT – a third place in the RST Superbike TT and another third in race two of the Supersport TT, despite challenging points throughout practice and race week. Not a bad return in MotorMartin’s opinion.
Impressive enough, especially when you consider that the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy is one of the most infamous road races on the calendar – a 37.73 mile circuit with 265 corners and speeds of 190mph+. The fastest riders will lap the course in under 17 minutes with average speeds of around 134mph. It’s a dangerous event which requires the highest quality protection.
All of which brings us to a close look at James’ choice of protective gear as he races wearing AGV and Dainese for the very best in protective headwear and clothing.
This year James wore an updated version of his custom AGV Pista GP R helmet, sporting an all new design and this years updated features.
“It was a last minute change, and whilst the general design remains the same, Starline – infamous for their distinct and strong designs – implemented the JH feature on the top which was something different and really stands out. I knew it was going to be good. I really love the helmet – the paint scheme and colours work really well with the bike and sponsors we have. I’m pleased with it.”
