News: DRIVER POWER AWARD FOR ALL-WHEEL DRIVE FORESTER

Subaru have a long established reputation in the UK for utilitarian working vehicles as well as exciting and powerful 4 X 4 saloon cars. The cult of the sadly departed 1995 WRC Champion Colin McRae is inextricably linked to Subaru and their Impreza but there are other vehicles in the Subaru range that warrant and deserve just as much affection.

This brings us nicely on to the, rather unassuming, Subaru Forester, the type of car that knows how good it is without feeling the need to really shout about it.

And now, MotorMartin is able to share with you the news that the Subaru Forester has just been awarded Bronze in the Off Road / SUV category in the influential 2016 Driver Power survey, published recently in Auto Express. The Forester was also rated as the eighth best vehicle to own among all cars in the study, something that Subaru are, no doubt, extremely pleased with.

Brian Walters, Director, Research and Insights at Driver Power commented to MotorMartin that: “In 2016, the Subaru Forester Mk4 performed brilliantly, improving in six of the 10 Driver Power judging categories. Owners of the Forester rate it highly for its reliability, practicality, ease of driving, and build quality.”

As we know, the Driver Power study is voted for exclusively by car owners in the UK, with 49,702 respondents taking part. All cars are rated across 10 judging categories, with drivers rating 183 models across 32 vehicle manufacturers.

Subaru have informed MotorMartin that the Forester is their best-selling model in the UK, no doubt thanks to its versatile character, supreme capability on- and off-road, build quality, and comfort. In fact, every Forester is equipped with Subaru’s famed Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and a range of highly efficient ‘Boxer’ four-cylinder engines, as well as being sold in the UK with a highly competitive five-year, 100,000-mile warranty as standard.

For 2016, the Forester has received a range of updates, including an upgraded interior, revised exterior styling, improved refinement, ride and handling, and new technologies to improve comfort and convenience. All of which have contributed towards the Subaru’s excellent placing in the survey.

The upgraded 2016 Subaru Forester is now on sale from Subaru’s nationwide dealer network, priced from £25,495 (on-the-road). Subaru are rightly proud of their Forester and have highlighted to MotorMartin that every model is fitted with Subaru’s permanent Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system, affording surefootedness in all conditions; and the latest-generation four-cylinder ‘Boxer’ engines, contributing to the car’s low centre of gravity, beneficial to balance, road holding and handling.
