So qualifying is over and the season is ready to start and the staff on the #MotorMartinRacing desk just cannot wait and now we have received news that the two Yamaha YZR-M1 2018 bikes will again carry the Scorpion logo for this year’s FIM MotoGP World Championship. Indeed, Yamaha have confirmed to MotorMartin that the partnership between Abarth and Yamaha is founded on shared values of a passion for sport, performance, challenges and the drive to excel in motorsports.
Luca Napolitano, Head of EMEA Fiat and Abarth Brand commented to MotorMartin that, “For all of us, this relationship means a great deal more than any ordinary sponsorship. For Abarth and Yamaha, races are important to gain experience to be transferred to standard production, for ever-finer engineering and excellent quality. What’s more, our two brands highly value teamwork and passion, both central to sport but also fundamental in everyday life and work. The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team’s many successes over these years underline the strength of this partnership”.
Abarth and Yamaha, they say, are brought together by a shared continual striving for cutting-edge performances and technological innovation, which extends beyond the world of racing and circuits. The latest model is the limited edition Abarth 695 XSR Yamaha, which shares some stylish details such as the use of carbon fibre components, with the Yamaha XSR 900 Abarth, a lightweight, high-performance café racer, and the first motorcycle to originate from the partnership between the two brands.
The first of the 19 races in the championship will be held today, the 18 March in Losail, Qatar. The MotoGP World Championship will end in Valencia, Spain on 18 November.
