News: START YOUR ENGINES! COYS ANNOUNCE NEW HIGH-OCTANE AUCTION AT HISTORIC MOTORSPORT INTERNATIONAL SHOW

It is always with a sense of excitement that news from the rather marvellous friends of MotorMartin, Coys Of Kensington is received here at MotorMartin Towers, as the range of vehicles on offer is always superb with the examples up for auction of the very highest quality. Indeed, it’s very often the classic motorists idea of heaven being able to spend some time looking through the most recent auction catalogue. Therefore, the latest news that International auctioneers Coys will be putting 25 historic racers under the hammer at their new high-octane auction at Historic Motorsport International show on Saturday 25th February in London’s ExCeL has certainly got the Towers in somewhat of a flap.

Coys have shared with MotorMartin that the Historic Motorsport International is held alongside the London Classic Car Show, a must attend event in the classic car calendar, and is devoted to all aspects of historic racing and rallying. It gathers under one roof virtually everyone involved in historic motorsport, including drivers, owners, collectors, dealers, preparers, engineers, promoters, venues, enthusiasts, the media, historic racing and rallying organisers, and more.

The auction will feature a selection of pure breed historic racers, including 15 competition-ready race and rally cars, five road-going racing cars and five sporting road-going classics. Going under the hammer there will be a Porsche 356 with period competition history, an ex-Le Mans Ferrari and a pair of fantastic Super V8 Holdens coming all the way from Australia. Incredible.

Chris Routledge, CEO of Coys, explained to MotorMartin that: “We’ve long had a deep association with historic motorsport since the earliest days of the Coys Historic Festival at Silverstone and to be a founding partner of Historic Motorsport International in our capital city is a very exciting opportunity. We are working alongside some of the finest and most respected names in historic racing and look forward to this experience.”

Ian France, Show Director of Historic Motorsport International, confirmed with MotorMartin that: “Held alongside another motoring exhibition from Brand Events, Historic Motorsport International is an exciting new event championing and celebrating historic motorsport. It’s the must attend event for everyone involved in historic motorsport and we are delighted to be working in partnership with Coys to deliver a specialist auction of historic racers.”

Viewing will be open to all visitors on Thursday and Friday (23 and 24 February) but access to the auction itself – which is due to start at 3pm on Saturday, 25 February – will be restricted to registered attendees who have purchased the official auction catalogue, either in advance or at Historic Motorsport International and MotorMartin certainly recommends that you do. It’ll be a stunning piece of work.

The auction catalogue will soon be available online at www.coys.co.uk
