News: FIRST 1,000 FORD MUSTANGS DELIVERED TO UK CUSTOMERS

It was only the other day that MotorMartin noticed a black, 5.0L, V8 Mustang pulling in to the carpark at Canal Road Tescos, here in Bradford. And you know what? It looked and sounded absolutely amazing. Ford have clearly been planning the UK launch of the Mustang very carefully over the last 50 years to make sure that the European Mustang perfectly fits the roads over here. Chatting to the driver of the Mustang revealed that he was extremely pleased with his purchase and rather unsurprisingly, he spent time praising the engine and technology therein. Its safe to say that this particular driver was pleased that his 2 year wait for delivery was over.

Ford have now confirmed to MotorMartin that over 1,000 UK customers have now received their new right-hand-drive Ford Mustang, as total sales accelerate past 3,500. So that’s an extra 1000 happy drivers out there somewhere!

Looking at the data, Ford have shared with MotorMartin that so far, 80 per cent of UK customers have opted for the fastback body style over the convertible and 68 per cent have specified the 416PS 5.0-litre V8 engine. Mustang’s six-speed manual transmission is the slightly more popular choice (54 per cent) over the six-speed automatic, which comes with sporty SelectShift paddle control.

Sales information also shows that Race Red is the most-popular exterior colour among UK buyers, specified on 20 per cent of Mustang orders. Magnetic Silver is second in line with 17 per cent and Shadow Black is third with 15 per cent. Triple Yellow (9 per cent) and Ruby Red (7 per cent) complete the top five. Which would you choose?

The Mustang colour palette has been updated from March 2016 to include new White Platinum, Grabber Blue and Lightning Blue colours. Competition Orange, Deep Impact Blue and Guard Grey colour options are no longer available to order.

The right-hand drive Mustang is available to order in the UK from £30,995 (EcoBoost) and £34,995 (V8) and now features SYNC 3 8in colour touchscreen with nine-speaker DAB radio, USB & Bluetooth connectivity as standard.

MotorMartin has waited for a right hand drive Mustang to hit these hallowed shores for quite some time and has already configured his dream car from the options available. It just remains to say well done Ford for finally making the Mustang available for all. There is still one question remaining though. Come on Ford, where’s mine to test?

Where will you go?
